Prior to working for Bell’s, Bernie was in the dry cleaning industry in Sydney. He was given the southern region to look after. He decided he wanted more stability and to settle in one place so he answered an ad in the newspaper for positions vacant with Bell’s.
Bernie started in the Head Office pressing, learning how to handle garments and doing various delivery runs. He then took on more responsibility by participating in the office work. He asked for more work and was given the opportunity to work at the Woden plant.
Bell’s opened the Belconnen store and Bernie was offered plant manager of that store. Not long after a franchise was offered and Bernie was interested and took the Melba plant.
Bernie move the plant to Charnwood and added photographic equipment to enable him to trade as Foxy’s .
Bernie is married to Leonie and they are the proud parents of two children.
